Support Groups

Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital hosts and facilitates a number of support groups to help people gain the support, advice and understanding of others who are in similar situations or circumstance. All interested individuals, including survivors, patients, caregivers as well as family and friends, are encouraged to attend our support groups in order to exchange mutual support with others who face the same or similar challenges.


Alzheimer’s Support Group
This free support group meets in the Westmoreland Nursing Center Library, 660 North Westmoreland Road, Lake Forest. Registration is not required, and all are welcome. For more information, please call 847.535.6764.

  • 1st Thursday of each month, 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.
  • 1st Thursday of each month, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

 

Cancer Survivors Networking Group
Held in the Northwestern Grayslake Mallard Room, this networking group welcomes all individuals who have been diagnosed with cancer and are seeking guidance, information and support from others. For more information, please call Noelle Mauer, LCSW at 847.535.7441.

Freedom From Smoking® Smoking Cessation Program
The American Lung Association's popular smoking cessation program is now at Lake Forest Health & Fitness Center. Millions of people have quit smoking, and you can do it, too!

Life After Stroke Support Group
This free support group is for survivors of stroke and their adult family members and friends. The support group meets in the Banquet Room at the Lake Forest Health & Fitness Center, 1200 North Westmoreland Road. Registration is not required, and all are welcome. Resolve Through Sharing (R.T.S.) Bereavement Services
Free support group for parents who have lost babies. Meets in the Hunter Family Center for Women's Health at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital, 660 North Westmoreland Road. For more information, please call Jennifer Forsman at 847.535.6336.

  • 3rd Tuesday of each month, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

 

Surviving Motherhood 1 & 2
New mothers and their babies are invited to this forum to share and learn coping strategies. Topics include:

  • Infant feedings
  • Sleep patterns
  • Changing family relationships
  • Other areas of concern

"Surviving Motherhood 1" is for babies 2 weeks to 6 months old. "Surviving Motherhood 2" is for babies 6 to 18 months old.

Register after the birth of your baby. This free class is for any mother of a new baby looking for support or wishing to network with other mothers. For more information or to join this group, please email childbirthed@lfh.org or call 847.535.6182.

WomenHeart
In partnership with Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital
Every woman has a different experience living with heart disease. Come and share yours with someone who really understands your thoughts, concerns and feelings — this support group is for women who have been there.
