Cardiology
According to the American Heart Association (AHA), 40,000 children in the United States are born each year with a heart defect. Whether heart disease is congenital or acquired in childhood—such as Kawasaki disease, rheumatic fever or infective endocarditis—special care and attention are required in the proper diagnosis, treatment and prevention of childhood cardiovascular disease. The AHA also reports that most adult onset cardiovascular disease begins in childhood.
At Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital, our approach is to seek to prevent and diagnose early-stage heart disease that helps all our patients—young and old—avoid long-term heart problems. We also offer a cardiac rehabilitation program for patients who are dealing with serious heart problems.
